Call Edna is a podcast series dedicated to my great-great grandfather, Dennis Bruce Zeigler. Bruce was labor union leader in the 1930s in Chicago, Illinois.

On February 24, 1933, Bruce was murdered. Someone knew when he would be coming home from work and they knew what route he would take. About a walk away from Bruce's house, they ambushed him. They fired three shots into the back of Bruce's head. He died in his son's arms.

Bruce's murder was never solved. In fact, no one was even arrested.

Like many people in my family, I've always been curious about Bruce's murder. As an attorney who has worked in the federal courts, as a public defender, and in a plaintiff's class action law firm, I would routinely research and investigate cases to evaluate the facts and assess their strengths and weaknesses. So one day, I thought, why not do that for Bruce's murder too?
